OVERHEAD ANNOUNCEMENT WHAT IT MEANS WHAT STAFF SHOULD DO
"Code Blue" Cardiac/Respiratory Arrest Code Blue Team respond to area; other staff to clear area.
"Dr. Red" Fire Alarm Activation See “Fire” page of this document.
"Operation Triage" Disaster Plan
Influx of Patients
Follow department disaster plan responsibilities; available staff should go to personnel pool. Call 885-STAT for disaster updates.
"Operation Triage NBC" Disaster Plan - Influx of patients with potential nuclear, biological or chemical exposure (refer to departmental shelter-in-place scenario) Authorized trained personnel should report to the ED. Others follow department disaster plan. Available staff report to the personnel pool.Call 885 STAT (7828) for updates.
"Shelter-in-place" Environmental hazard external to the medical center building Stay inside the building, ensure all windows are closed and wait for further instructions. All buildings ventilation systems will be shut down. All building entrances and exits will be secured to reduce outside air from entering the building.
"Facilities Mobilization" Facilities-related Emergency Listen for further instructions or code announcements.
"Code Gray" (Stay Away) Police/Security Incident Trained security personnel respond to area --- all other clear area.
"Code Pink"

Infant Abduction Observe and report any suspicious persons to 9+911.  Watch stairwells; push elevator buttons; watch for persons with small bundles or packages; note descriptions.
"Code Dry" Water Shortage Conserve water immediately; do not flush toilets; inventory available water resources; triple red bag toilets for human waste. Medical Center Facilities will supply bottled water to inpatient care and critical ancillary departments.

Be aware that an evacuation may be announced.   Begin planning.

Evacuate patients who can be moved per instructions.  Staff to remain with patients who cannot be moved.

Evacuate immediately; disaster imminent; do not remain with patients who cannot be quickly moved.

"Code Purple" Suspected Child Abduction Check stairwells, elevators and exits for potential child kidnapping and report to 9-911
